What size should I choose?

The pants have a relatively roomy fit—a jacket, sweater, and other clothes fit well underneath. For example, if your child wears size 110, size 2 will fit well.

Questions & Answers

Can you wear the pants over regular clothes?

Yes, the pants are cut so that they can be worn over regular clothes, even thick woolen clothes—similar to snow pants. In the winter, they also work very well with woolen leggings and woolen jackets worn underneath.

What do you wear under your pants—depending on the season?

  • Summer: Nothing, or just knee-high socks.

  • Transitional Season/Winter: Wool leggings or wool tights.

  • Recommendation: Wool leggings pair well with wool socks and are more durable than wool-silk leggings

How water-repellent are the leather pants?

Rain, mud, and snow are no problem. The leather will only get soaked if it sits in water for an extended period (e.g., if it’s constantly in a puddle). Wearing a pair of thin rain pants over them is optional in extreme weather.

Do the pants stay waterproof even in clay and sand? How do you clean them?

Yes, the leather repels moisture well. Once it dries, dirt usually falls off on its own. A damp cloth is all you need to clean it. The surface is sturdy enough to be brushed without leaving scratches.

Which color is the most water-repellent?

  • Best choice: Light brown (with extra waterproof treatment)

  • Then: Red

  • Next: Copper-colored

The differences lie in the respective surface treatments of the leather—they are subtle, but they do exist.

How do you properly care for leather pants?

Conditioning is not absolutely necessary before the first use—the leather is naturally water-repellent. However, we still recommend lightly oiling the pants: This provides an additional protective layer against dirt and moisture.

For additional care:

  • Grease 2–4 times a year, for example, with a beeswax-based leather conditioner

  • Be sure to grease the seams in particular

  • We recommend using a leather care product that is free of harmful substances, since the pants could end up in a child's mouth

Can you wash leather pants?

The leather pants can be washed completely if necessary (e.g., if they are very dirty)—it’s best to rinse them off in the shower or bathtub. Alternatively, you can wash them in the washing machine: at 0°C on the gentle cycle. Then simply hang them up to dry.
