Size chart & FAQ for children's outdoor trousers

Here you will find the size chart and the answers to the most frequently asked questions about our children's leather outdoor trousers.

Size chart

Which size should I choose?

The pants are relatively generous - jackets, sweaters and other clothing fit well underneath. If your child wears a size 110, for example, size M2 will fit well.

Questions & Answers

Can the pants be worn over normal clothing?

Yes, the trousers are cut so that they can be worn over normal clothing, including thick woolen clothing - similar to the Buddel pants. In winter, they also work very well with woolen leggings and woolen jackets underneath.

What do you wear under your pants - depending on the season?

  • Summer: Nothing or only knee-high socks.

  • Transition period/winter: Wool leggings or wool tights.

  • Recommendation: Wool leggings combine well with wool socks and are more durable than wool-silk leggings

How water-repellent are the lederhosen?

Rain, mud and snow are no problem. Only if you sit in water for a long time (e.g. permanently in a puddle) can the leather become soaked. Thin rain trousers are optional in extreme weather.

Do the pants hold tight even in clay and sand? How do you clean them?

Yes, the leather keeps moisture out well. After drying, dirt usually falls off by itself. A damp cloth is sufficient for cleaning. The surface is robust enough to brush off without leaving scratches.

Which color is the most water-repellent?

  • Best: Light brown (extra waterproof treatment)

  • Then: Red

  • Then: Copper colors

The differences lie in the respective surface treatment of the leather - they may be small, but they are there.

How do you care for lederhosen properly?

Care is not absolutely necessary before first use - the leather is naturally water-repellent. However, we recommend lightly greasing the trousers anyway: this gives them an additional protective layer against dirt and moisture.

For additional care:

  • Grease 2-4 times a year, e.g. with a beeswax-based leather grease

  • Grease the seams in particular

  • We recommend using non-toxic leather care, as the pants could also be put in the mouth

Can the lederhosen be washed?

The leather trousers can be washed completely if necessary (e.g. if they are very dirty) - it is best to rinse them under the shower or in the bath. Alternatively, they can also be washed in the washing machine at 0 °C on a gentle cycle. Then simply hang to dry.
