Is a punching bag a good idea for kids?
A punching bag for kids is the perfect way to channel excess energy and pent-up emotions in a healthy direction. Instead of sitting in front of screens, a punching bag gives kids a chance to really let off steam. It promotes physical activity, coordination, and concentration —and it’s a lot of fun—plus, it’s a cool addition to any kid’s room!
What weight and size are appropriate for a punching bag for children?
Make sure the punching bag isn't too heavy or too hard. The punching bag should be able to swing back and forth easily; otherwise, it's too heavy.
Our recommendations for the right punching bag for kids:
Children ages 6–12: 5–10 kg — 60-cm children's punching bag (8 kg)
Children ages 12 and up and teens: 10–15 kg — 70-cm children's punching bag (15 kg)

Punching bag material: leather
Leather is the best material to use, as it is durable yet very soft. With a soft, smooth leather punching bag, you can even punch it without boxing gloves. Sturdy canvas is also a suitable material, but leather punching bags are more durable and therefore more sustainable.
Fabric scraps are ideal for use as filling. They absorb punches and kicks effectively, thereby reducing the strain on the joints. Because the fabric is flexible, lightweight, and soft, it exerts less pressure on the wrists, elbows, and shoulders when punching, which is especially important for children’s punching bags.
Punching bag filling: shredded fabric scraps
Our children's punching bags are filled with shredded recycled fabric scraps. The amount of filling in our punching bags can be easily adjusted at home based on body weight and workout style to change the weight and firmness of the punching bag.
The 60-cm children's punching bag comes with an 8-kg filling, the 70-cm children's and youth punching bag with a 15-kg filling, and the 100-cm family punching bag with a 20-kg filling. If necessary, the fabric can be removed from the bag to make it lighter, or sand (packed in plastic bags) can be added.

Our children's punching bags are available in a variety of colors as limited editions made from recycled leather.
They are made in our studio in Amsterdam Handcrafted. The large leather pieces are sewn together with sturdy double stitches. This makes each punching bag one-of-a-kind.
