Children's boxing: Why boxing is the perfect sport for children

Every punching bag tells a story - our punching bags are handmade with love and care in Amsterdam.

Children have a natural urge to let off steam - sometimes even physically. Parents often want to avoid this or channel it into "good channels". Boxing channels children's, especially boys', desire for physical confrontation and gives them the opportunity to measure their strength and get rid of excess energy - and that's really important.

Reduce frustration & regulate emotions

Frustration, anger, sadness - it all needs to come out. If there is no "sparring partner" nearby, such as a parent, sibling or friend with boxing gloves, it helps to let off steam with a few targeted punches on the punching bag. After school, a few kicks against the punching bag - and your head will clear again.

Children who do martial arts - including children's boxing - experience less bullying and fighting. They are more often respected by their classmates. Through boxing training, they usually even become less aggressive and only use their fighting skills in the boxing club or on the punching bag.

Boxing for girls

Girls in particular tend to be taught not to hit or to assert themselves physically. They are often more reserved. But they also have an urge to move and a desire for physical confrontation - just like boys. It is important for girls to be able to live this out and they need a counterbalance for this. An object such as a punching bag (we also have pink punching bags ;-) or a "sparring partner" can help with this.

When siblings are constantly arguing at home?

Send them to the punching bag! Boxing is ideal for (sibling) children to "fight it out" peacefully. They can let off steam at the punching bag or box against each other - with gloves and rules. And the argument is quickly forgotten.

Boxes instead of computers

When friends are visiting, boxing is an active alternative to spending hours playing computer games, watching TV or glued to your smartphone. They box together on the bag or against each other with boxing gloves instead of just sitting "together" in front of the screen.

And children who don't like to move?

A punching bag in the children's room can be a real incentive - an easy way for those who don't like sport to get moving. A few punches or kicks - and you immediately feel a change in your body.

Other advantages of children's boxing?

  • Boxing for children is something new and more exciting than the classic sports that everyone does.

  • It promotes coordination, strength, endurance, responsiveness and concentration.

  • Boxing training at the boxing club consists of stretching, fitness training, exercises on the punching bag and technical exercises - alone or with a partner. Many trainers pay particular attention to leg coordination because it plays a major role in boxing.

  • As with any martial art, training strengthens self-confidence.

  • Children learn to use their strength in a targeted and controlled manner.

When is children's boxing suitable?

Boxing training at the boxing club is available for children from the age of 6. For younger children from the age of 4, a punching bag at home is suitable for playful boxing. Make sure that the punching bag is light enough.

Here you will find an overview of which punching bag is suitable for which age.
