Thanks to the padded back panel made of breathable leather, the soft, felt-padded shoulder straps, and its light weight of 950 g, the backpack sits comfortably and lightly on your shoulders, even when worn for long periods.
Fair Production
Each backpack is crafted with precision using traditional methods in our " Snekkerbuks" workshop in Amsterdam. The high-quality craftsmanship makes the backpack extremely durable and long-lasting.
Sustainable Materials
100% high-quality, durable cowhide leather from responsible sources. We use only leather from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG) to the Gold Standard, the most important sustainability standard for leather production. The leather is left in its natural state, so its unique surface characteristics—such as grain patterns and subtle color variations—remain visible. The waterproofing treatment and a light wax finish make the backpack water-repellent and very durable.
The backpack is lined with water-repellent, durable canvas tent fabric (40 cm water column) made of 100% cotton, manufactured in the Netherlands. Shoulder straps made of saddle leather and wool felt.
Reuse
The buckles and leather straps on the backpacks are repurposed leather skate laces (Dutch: “schaatsbinders”). These parts were once manufactured in large quantities from high-quality natural leather in the Netherlands—the land of ice skating—and are now surplus to requirements, as plastic is almost exclusively used today. The leftover stock from ice skate factories is given a second life in the “ Snekkerbuks ” backpacks.
Free Repairs
Our backpacks are designed to be very durable and sturdy, and can last a lifetime. If something does happen to break, we offer a free repair service! Send your backpack to our studio, and we’ll repair it if possible.
