Ergonomic design for comfortable, lightweight carrying

Thanks to the padded back section made of breathable leather, the soft, felt-padded shoulder straps and the low weight of 950 g, the rucksack sits comfortably and lightly on the shoulders even when worn for long periods.

Fair production

Each backpack is traditionally handcrafted with precision in our Snekkerbuks studio in Amsterdam. The high-quality workmanship makes the backpack extremely hard-wearing and durable.

Sustainable materials

100% high-quality, robust cowhide leather from responsible production. We only use leather from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Groep (LWG) with the Gold Standard, the most important sustainability standard for leather production. The leather is left in its natural state and the special surface characteristics of the leather, such as grain and subtle color differences, remain visible. The impregnation and a light wax finish make the backpack water-repellent and very hard-wearing. 

The backpack is lined with water-repellent, hard-wearing canvas tent fabric (40 cm water column) made of 100% cotton, produced in the Netherlands. Shoulder straps made of saddle leather and wool felt.

Re-use 

The buckles and leather straps of the backpacks are reworked leather skate ties (Dutch: "schaatsbinders"). These parts were once produced in large quantities from high-quality natural leather in Holland, the land of skates, and are now superfluous as plastic is now almost exclusively used. The leftovers from the skate factories are given a second life in the Snekkerbuks backpacks.

Free repairs

Our backpacks are designed to be very durable and robust and can be worn for a lifetime. In the unlikely event that something should break: We offer you a free repair option! Send your backpack to our workshop and we will repair it if possible.
